Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day)
The one day Emergency First Aid at Work Course has been specifically designed inline with the Health and Safety Executives guidance on First Aid at Work Regulations. The course is designed for businesses and individuals whose processes hold a lower risk potential following risk assessment: www.hse.gov.uk/firstaid/assessmenttool.htm If the Risk Assessment has indicated that a lower level of first aid provision is sufficient the EFAW course will be sufficient. Individuals who have previously attended Emergency Aid for the Appointed Persons course are recommended to attend this new HSE approved course.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:
• Understanding the role of the First Aider
• The importance of preventing cross infection
• The need for recording incidents and actions
• Use of available equipment
• Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
• Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries
Assessment
Continuous written and practical assessment by the trainer.
Certification
Successful candidates will receive an Ofqual regulated EFAW certificate valid for
3 years.
