First Aid at Work Refresher (2 Day)
The two day First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher course updates the First Aid skills for people who need to renew their statutory First Aid at work certificate and those people who have an existing certificate that is still valid. First aiders whose certificates have expired by more than 28 days will have to attend the full three day First Aid at work course. The course will provide an update of existing skills and refresh candidate’s knowledge of the current First Aid at work syllabus.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:
• Understand the importance of preventing cross-infection
• Understand the need for recording incidents and actions
• Understand the use of available First aid equipment
• Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
• Know how to summon the appropriate assistance
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
• Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries
• Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries
• Administer first aid to a casualty with chest injuries
• Administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
• Administer first aid to a casualty with eye injuries
• Administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
• Administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylactic shock
Assessment
Continuous written and practical assessment carried out by the trainer.
Certification
Successful candidates will receive an updated Ofqual regulated FAW certificate valid for a further 3 years.
